UK Holiday Trip ( i )

Subhanallah walhamdulillah wallahuakbar!

My beloved hubby & I got the chance to experience our 2nd honeymoon ^__^
21st Nov - 4th Dec (Autumn-Winter) 2009, United Kingdom

tempat persinggahan pertama~
rumah Zaid, Kak Manihah & Harith chumeyl~

we arrived late at night n caused Zaid some hassle to pick us up at Stansted Airport... we had a good rest that night. i especially love the air bed! i finally got a break from backpain since my pregnancy days started.. nak beli satu bawak balik tapi at last dah banyak sangat barang pulak..

after getting ourselves an Oyster Card the next morning and 'studying' the Tube Map, we went off to Oxford Street for some window shopping. it wasn't easy for us to find lunch for the first day. finally found a small arab stall and grabbed a slice of pizza + kebab + water and guess what! it costs us about £9! we immediately learnt not to convert the currency to RM anymore =P then we passed Green Park to visit Buckingham Palace, but to us nature lovers, Green Park was much more interesting!

friendly pigeons at Green Park ^__^

"i want some yummy chocolate!!" says the squirrel.

sunset at Buckingham Palace was beautiful :) it was getting colder at night and a whole day of walking was quite tiring, so we went 'home' ^__^

stress!!!

feel like yelling my lungs out right now
mainly because of the stress, and partly because i really want to get rid of this sleepy-head feeling.

last Friday i received a call from Engineering Academic Affairs telling me my Computer Security exam will be on the 24th (this Thursday). since friday was a holiday i had to wait until today to know my Decision Science exam time. So glad Maya was willing to help me get my exam letter from Economics general office
BUT
it was written on that letter Decision Science special exam - 24th December.

i went to Academic Affairs to settle the clash, but guess what???

COMPUTER SECURITY EXAM IS ON THE 22ND!!!!
i.e. tomorrow morning!

uhh.. it was a good thing that i had started my revision, but it was still a horror to know that i have less than 24 hours to prepare myself for the paper.

i just could not focus for many hours already! T__T
just had a late supper with Abah, and he said "just do what you can do"
but i still fear, is that enough?

*now blogging bcoz i've tried hard to focus on the subject but it didn't work out. hoping to get some refreshment*

trying not to fall off the track...

17 weeks

Fetal development in pregnancy week 17:

fetus in fourth month

Don't be too shocked but... the baby is EVEN bigger than it was last week, not to mention getting cuter, and smarter every day! The baby is now nearly 11.1cm long from crown to rump and weighs about 140g.

Alhamdulillah the baby is healthy, moving about actively inside the safest sanctuary that ever existed on earth, but we still haven't known his gender yet~

so you just gotta wait if you're planning to buy him/her gifts and toys ^__^

Allah's Love

Subhanallah walhamudilillah wallahuakbar!

While I was drowning in the sea of life, making myself busy with the worldly test called final exam and taking every moment of my life for granted, my Creator and Sustainer 'poked' me with a simple test, to make me remember that none of us belong to this world forever.

After a whole busy Sunday preparing for my final exams, my hubby returned from Perak with a little complaint of having a stomach ache. A couple of hours later, all of a sudden and without warning, he vomited blood - a lot of blood. I freaked out. We immediately went to the hospital. After hours of waiting and check-up, Mujahid was warded. Of course, terrified, all I wanted to do was to stay with him in the ward that night despite having a test the next morning.

Subhanallah Allah sent us family and friends who really cares. Within 24 hours, at least a dozen of them came to visit. I was trying to make myself comfortable to accompany Mujahid at his bed for another few days, but a greater horror came...

I was studying on my hubby's bed when a nurse came in with a face mask, telling us that my hubby has got positive Influenza A H1N1. Even though he had no fever, cough or flu, that meant a pregnant lady should leave as soon as possible. The nurse told me to get a test done for myself downstairs at the ER. I went and I was instructed to immediately take Tamiflu coz I am pregnant, but I did not, due to its uncertain effects on pregnancy.

24 hours was dreadful. That night I could not sleep at all, nor could I study for the coming exam. The shocked-and-frightened me could not stop crying every time an SMS came in asking how's Mujahid. I feared for Mujahid as he has a bad asthma and I feared for our unborn baby's health.

24 hours later, i received no call from APSH. I tried calling the hospital's main line but nobody answered. I need to get my results or I'll be sitting for my VLSI Design exam. No call. I went for the exam with a terrible headache, troubled mind and unstable emotion, and of course a face mask and hand sanitizer. It was 3-hour paper and I spent 45 minutes sleeping at my desk. My lecturer came twice knocking at my table "sister, don't sleep..." but I couldn't help myself. Sleeping is the best thing I could do with the current state of headache. My optimist target of getting an A- or a B+ for the subject immediately dropped to a pass. But Allah knows best and I can only pray that He will give me the best result i deserve.

After the exam, I received news from Auntie Mimi who also got infected, that my result is also positive. But no fever, cough or flu. Only usual super-painful headaches. My gynea said I must take Tamiflu, so I did. Couple of hours later, I started vomiting, many times, even when my tummy was already empty. Even plain water made me run back into the bathroom. By nighttime, I was exhausted & weak. But there was nobody around so I just had to force myself to move around and do things myself. After dealing with IIUM clinic (with Sulafa's and Tikki's help) for me to take special exams later, I decided to go to the hospital. Until now, I'm so grateful to the newly wed couple Kak Nazihah & Auzan for helping me out that night. No more vomiting. Kak Nazihah stayed with me in the ER until 4 a.m. and I was warded. Thank you soooo much my dear sister!!

Selayang Hospital's isolation room was terrible. No TV is definitely acceptable, but just imagine there was no plain water provided for a sick person! No visitors were allowed, so nobody was around to bring me some water. The food was okay (although I didn't have the appetite to finish my food) but the fact that I had to take my own meals and send empty dishes to and from the isolation room door is shocking. Is that to be expected from a government hospital? Oh my first experience of being admitted to the hospital was definitely indecent.

Thank goodness I was discharged in less than 24 hours. Around the same time Mujahid was on his way home too. Thanks to Kakak & Abg Amin for helping us out. An 'infectious disease' specialist said I do not have to continue with Tamiflu, with approval of a gynaecologist, and I'm just so happy about that. But I really have to pray that my antibody is strong enough to kill away all the H1N1 virus inside me.

Now that we are home, I'd like to say thanks to all who have prayed for us. Mujahid's tummy is getting better and we hope the ulser that caused him to vomit blood will heal soon. We'll have to sit for special exams later, maybe in about three weeks time. For me it'll be two papers, but for Mujahid it'll be four, or three if he decides to dump his medical leave on the 9th.

Indeed, this is a tremendously great reminder from Allah s.w.t..

"And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).
Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return." "

last week of lectures for this sem

alhamdulillah walaupun kelam kabut next week start final exam things are going on much better than expected ^__^
except for the headache that doesn't seem to fully disappear since the '53 hours....' post. and yes, i did not add to the counting because it'll just make me miserable.

anyways, skrg ni tinggal kena hantar Smart Aquarium System project report n assignment decision science jumaat ni. Dr. Anisah itu saaaangat baik!!! dari 3 soalan yg panjaaang tu dia wajibkan pilih 2 je bila ada students pegi mengadu kat diat his week sgt havoc..
other than that, i HAVE to study for my final exams -__-" especially utk 3 paper yg berderet itu...

so, enough of that.
below is the outcome of my new toy this semester. did this with 5 other girls :)

Smart Aquarium System.
features: automatic feeder & water temperature display

and the one below with the laundry hanger is not my toy. it belonged to Najmi and her team, but they're doing it for another lab class. the fan is connected to a heat sensor, so that when the weather is hot it turns off automatically and we don't have to waste electricity to dry our clothes :)

i find this prototype very cute! ^__^

nak tulis jugak!

walaupun tau blog ni ada beberapa lecturer ECE yg visit, nak tulis jugak!

CIE Lab I weighs 1 credit hour - and it consists of two subjects:
Data Structure & Multimedia

hence DS Lab only weighs 0.5 credit hour.

yet..
the workload is beyond any 3 credit hour subject!!!

esok kena submit DS Lab so-called mini project which includes: Binary Search Tree, AVL Tree, Heapify, insert & delete node into a tree, perform sort and implement hashing - and those listed does not include all the 'requirements' demanded by the lecturer.

and guess how much time we got?
1 week, to be submitted with a multimedia mini-project (yang buat orang tak tidur dan rupa2nya tak payah submit on that day). and of course there are tonnes of other projects and assignments and quizzes!!

and trust me, i did not procrastinate this time!

so much for a 0.5 ch subject. ugh!!

What Do Teachers Make?

What Do Teachers Make? A Profound Answer!

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.

One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?"

To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?"

Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...)

"Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.

I make a C+ student feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor winner.

I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can't make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental.

You want to know what I make? (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table)

I make kids wonder.
I make them question.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.

I teach them to write and then I make them write.. Keyboarding isn't everything.

I make them read, read, read.

I make them show all their work in math. They use their God given brain, not the man-made calculator.

I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know about English while preserving their unique cultural identity.

I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.

Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life. (Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)

Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing money isn't everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant.

You want to know what I make?

I MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
What do you make Mr. CEO?

His jaw dropped, he went silent.

A profound answer!!!

53 hours, and hoping NOT to add to the counting

53 hours
and right now i'm taking caffeine, hoping it'll give me few good hours for me to finish my mini project for software engineering which is to be submitted tomorrow!

luckily this time panadol helped prevent the pain from increasing for a couple of hours, but i dare not take more than 2 tablets. last night i did 'bekam' when i complaint to my mother-in-law about feeling numb at the left side of my face, good that the numbness disappear immediately as blood was pumped towards the my temple. but the headache remains..

sometimes i just wonder when will this end, or reduce- time and pain-wise, or at least when can be as strong as my hubby when he gets his asthma attack. i can only cry when i can't handle it anymore. several times these few days.

i didn't go for my midterm exam for 0.5 credit hour TaeKwon-Do skill class on Friday. it's my only chance of proving to the trainer that i, who practiced TaeKwon-Do since i was 11, don't deserve a B- or worse - which i got last semester, but i just couldn't help it. i could not even stand in the bathroom with lights on.

i've read about some children to suffer headaches since the age of 3 - yes, THREE - because either or both parents suffer from migraines. it's really a horrifying thought and i really really really pray that my kids will never have to go through that. i pray that they'll be healthy!

by the way, Paan and i never had any Java class and we're working on a phone software. didn't make it from scratch, but we're having problems to compile it into .jar format. any help available?? please sms me a.s.a.p.!

havoc week --> less havoc week

last sunday, i forced myself to stay at home to study for this havoc week, only to find that all my classmates were enjoying attending open houses or resting at home when i give them a call to ask about some things i was stuck at. i ended up playing computer games...

12th oct
- VLSI design quiz
- ECE lab test (30% of that 1 credit hour lab!)

13th oct
- Data Structure lab was cancelled :) yeay!

14th oct
- Communication Engineering assignment submission

15th oct
- Computer Security assignment submission
- midterm for my TKD skills (i'll only be doing the theory part)

16th oct
- quiz for Multimedia lab? Macromedia Flash
- midterm for Decision Science postponed to next week! (it's supposed to be on the 17th but of course i'm attending Auzan's & Kak Nazihah's wedding :) nsyaAllah)

yesterday morning, i woke up with a mild migraine on the left side of my head. alhamdulillah it did not increase (nor decrease..) up until now..

after the tough lab test yesterday, baby & i decided to take a walk to IIUM convest hill. it took us 25 minutes to reach there from kuliyyah of engineering! we just bought a drink and meehoon. the place was still crowded and noisy at 11pm! so we decided to go to the main stairs. BUT baby doesn't want to walk anymore. so we sat somewhere for a while to have a rest, and to our delight the IIUM bus came! :D it's been ages since my first-and-only ride on that bus. so we went on the bus and it's baby's first ride on a bus! hehe.. ^__^

hope everyone will have a nice week!

12 weeks

it's 12 weeks already!!
^__^
subhanallah walhamdulillah wallahuakbar!

yesterday i went for my 2nd antenatal check-up, and the ultrascan was really fun! although i've read quite a lot about pregnancy and look at the pictures of the baby in the tummy in various websites, it's totally a different excitement when i saw my own baby moving about inside my tummy. it's like--- MAGIC!

first the kid was facing downwards, then he turned, facing up and we saw the heartbeat going dup dup dup.. a few seconds later he turned to the side and showed us his tiny little arms and fingers. then he faced down again and... we coudln't get a clear scan picture because he doesn't want to turn again..

actually, we still don't know if he's a HE.. but let's pray for the best!

i can't help smiling everytime i remember about the incident ^__^ it made me remember that it's really a miracle.. and it's really a great blessing from Allah.

smiles ^__^

on the other hand,
i didn't get any advice from the gyn on my migraine T__T didn't expect much in the first place.. but the thought of another migraine attack still scares me when i don't have any idea how to deal with it..

happy birthday to me~ ^__^

happy birthday to me
i was born in the sea
with the seahorse and the sea anemone
and the clownfish is me~~

although it is actually EVERY DAY that we grow older, to me, birthdays are always a great reminder. i receive messages with good and nice wishes, and best of all reminders about my amal and death on this day. i also take the opportunity to spend some cents to send my beloved ones messages of gratitude, thankfulness and apologies.
to me, it's not just another day, but a day to be 'USED' wisely and reflect upon what i have done for the past years i've been on this earth.

some may not agree, but please don't bother lecturing me at the comments section :P

my first birthday with my significant other ^__^

activity-wise, today is just another day. i actually plan to spend today studying for my Data Structure Lab tomorrow and also complete 3 assignments which i have been delaying since last week -__-" NOT a good thing but believe me, each time i take a glance - not even a close look! - at the Computer Security textbook copy (it was passed down from my seniors ok) i feel like vomitting.. hey, even non-pregnant women can feel like that after getting so tired of reading the textbook. and yes, it's a reading, understanding and memorizing subject.

hmm.. why am i babbling about my studies today...
anyways...

this is me with Ibrahim my youngest brother.

he turned 2 yesterday - 4th October.
two years ago when my step-mom went into the labour room, i received an sms while i was in the engineering workshop and i replied "nooo!! wait for tomorrow!" coz my birthday is on the 5th. but you know, people say it doesn't take long hours in the labour room if it's the 5th child. so Ibrahim was borned on the 4th of October.

close-up pic of my birthday cake.

it's a carrot cake with walnuts and raisins! my favourite since i was a kid.
i really appreciate this especially when it's not easy to find very nice carrot cakes and when chocolates are migraine triggers for you. thanks so much Auntie Mimi! everyone said the cake is super-delicious!

what's with the candles? it's a controversial issue and i'm not going to talk about it here. to my family, it's just for the fun of getting the kids to blow them. really, it's fun when you look at the ways they try to blow off the candles ^__^

HAVE A NICE DAY EVERYONE!

some pics :)

iftar at JB home~
it was my first time making home-made donuts! dip with fine sugar, choc syrup and peanut butter!

family pic for this year's Eidul-Fitr
1st day was spent @ Batu Pahat so no family pic in Bukit Antarabangsa
isn't this quite a big family too?? alhamdulillah! ^__^

morning or all-day sickness? or gastric attack?

8th week:
started having some so-not-nice morning(actually ALL DAY!)-sickness. especially when i'm hungry, i would get dizzy & feel like vomitting. yes, only the feeling. but that is still uncomfortable.. fasting gets very challenging but i still forced myself to fast as long as i can handle it. coz i don't want to qadha' puasa banyak sangat!

9th week:
once i really vommited after fajr prayers bcoz something was smelling funny terrible!. i asked my hubby what smell was it and he says it's the plant fertilizer - and you know what they are made of! it was a good thing that we planned to go to the beach that morning ^__^
to my tiny disappointment, by tiny i meant: just a little disappointed, the Senai-Desaru highway is still not completed yet so we end up going to Tanjung Langsat which has no sand. only a small jetty and port nearby, thus making the sea water not so beautiful. but the smell of the sea is way much better than plant fertilizers!

10th week:
baby is now 9 weeks & few days. i had a bad gastric attack last night. one moment i felt really hungry and wanted some real food - instead of bread or instant mee. 'forced' my hubby to make nasi goreng for me at 10.45 p.m. but soon felt some tornado going on inside my tummy. however since he cooked for me, i still forced myself to eat few spoonfuls but end up vomitting everything including what i ate for dinner at 6 p.m. (the carbohydrates did not get digested even after 5 hours!) . i don't know if it's the gastric or 'morning' sickness, but oh it was terrible T__T

it has only been 9 weeks plus and now i know how hard & tough it is to become a mom! i'm really grateful to my Ummi for everything, even though she did not experience any kind of sickness during all her pregnancies - which is super great! - i'm really grateful to my Ummi for everything she have done for us.

it has only been 9 weeks plus and i'm so thankful that i have a really caring & loving husband who would take care of me when i feel not-so-good. even though i don't think i have to, i still keep apologizing for all the mess i did.. uh-uhh.. i really hope that all husbands should be as caring and supporting as my Mujahid :)
after all, we are the ones who carry your children from 0-9 months and shall take care of them after they are born, so do take care of us well! ^__^

third month

fetus in third month

Fetal development in pregnancy week 9:
Congratulations! Your amazing growing baby has been accepted into to the fetus-club, a very exclusive and exiting new stage in their prenatal development. Basically, this means the little sweet pea has graduated from swimming embryo creature to a recognizable human being!
Your baby weighs under 10g - a fraction of an ounce - but is poised for rapid growth. All the body parts are now present, including arms, legs, eyes, genitals and other organs, though they're not yet fully formed.

^_^ praying and praying to Allah that the baby will develop perfectly, ameen..

family planning?

some friends asked me, "did you dump your family planning?" or "what happened to your family planning?"

my simple answer is:

Good planners have Plan B. or even C and D and E and so on!
When circumstances change, your plans change.
it really took me a lot of time and courage to decide at first~

what an AGILE family! **those taking software engineering classes would definitely understand this! ^__^ **

1 - 7 weeks

whoa..

i read my previous posts and looked back at what i've done since the beginning of this semester.. and guess what???

1st week of pregancy:
- i was called to help out with the props for COVER GIRL theatre performance. lifted up chairs, tables, heavy props, etc!

2nd week:
- had a not-very-active week, but trained for the upcoming Engineering Sports Carnival a couple of times.

3rd week:
- i played table tennis for the Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) department and got 3rd place!

4th week:
- did pregnancy test and the result was negative. so i eagerly participated in the "world's most dreadful camp", PERKASA 2009. walked and hiked for at least 15 kilometres in 3 days, cut bamboo poles using a blunt parang to prepare for dinner and set up bonfire for the night! i got exhausted throughout the following week and only attended few classes.

5th week:
- super-duper exhausted

6th week:
- found out that i was actually pregnant! started taking folic acid for my baby~ and was forced to rest a lot. no long distance walking and travelling.

7th week:
- had scanning for the 2nd time (the 1st time we couldn't see anything) and saw the baby's heartbeat ^__^ it's only 1.44 centimetres long!

this IS FUN, indeed! subhanallah walhamdulillah wallahuakbar!

welcoming a new life~

^__^

I haven't blogged a real post for quite sometime and I realize that not many people come to visit this blog anymore. it's really okay though :)

Anyways,,, uhh.. i don't know where to start..

Ah, firstly I really want to apologize to most of my usrah-mates for not breaking this joyful news to you guys first.. I actually planned to make it public after 'Eid, but my hubby was just more than excited so he kept asking me "dah boleh announce ke belum???", just like I would ask on some very-tiring days "berapa minit lagi buka puasa???".. LOL~

This is really a very new experience to me. Right now, I still can't imagine being a mom :P or even moving around with a big tummy :P hehehe~

Not as mentioned on the baby ticker, I don't experience any morning sickness, alhamdulillah! However there are some awful discomforts (which i've suffered from since my teen-ages) - gastrics and migraines.
My tummy started to feel extremely bloated and painful around last week (7th week) and I guess the trigger was the mid-term examinations around the corner. Uh-oh! Before that everything was bearable.. And migraine came right after I finished my last paper on Wednesday, AFTER my actual first visit to the doctor. Hence i did not ask for any advice on migraines. I certainly will do during the next visit next month! Other than that, I often feel dizzy and nausea but no vomitting though, alhamdulillah!

The embryo in the 2nd month
Their oversized head isn’t just large and oblong anymore, it’s actually a little bit pointy. The tiny receding tail bud is now starting to be overshadowed by the growth of their legs, which are now complete with knees and the beginnings of toes. Their eyes and ears are the most visible features on their head and their miniature bones are starting to harden throughout their body.

8 days to go for Ramadhan. I have to admit that I couldn't manage to fast the whole 29 or 30 days this year although I had the chance to T__T It's really a sad thing that now it's really a challenge for me to make the best out of this Ramadhan and I'm still struggling to finish my tilawah al-qur'an on time (especially because of the bad timing of exams but that should never be an excuse).. but I will try my very best, nsyaAllah!

Please pray for me and for my (AND mujahid's) baby! ^__^

The parabale of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain or corn:
it groweth seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains.
Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases: and Allah cares for all and He Knows all things

round-table discussion?

A lady from the US embassy gave me a call, asking if I can get a dozen of Adni upper-secondary students and also some Adni Alumni to sit down and have a round-table discussion about Obama’s speech this Saturday in Moscow.

I can’t help but think of the big agenda behind these activities. No doubt what they’ll get from the discussion will be compiled and reported to the US intelligence.

And that idea brings me to the photography workshop held last month. I had submitted a database of photographers, complete with their full names, phone number, e-mail address, field of study/expertise, and so on. Oh is it really okay…

Hmm… I don’t think I will personally attend the upcoming discussion IF it is to be done. For one thing, I’m not that kind of person who has interest in politics. And second, my face had always and will always appear in front of the US embassy for peace demonstrations.
