from Zero to HERO ^__^ nsyaAllah!

I know you guys would believe me if I say: "I just came back from a Public Speaking training!"

But I don't know if you guys would believe me when I say: "It's my third time doing Public Speaking in my whole 19+ years of life".

I still clearly remember my first time holding a microphone in front of 150 schoolmates & teachers when I was 13, to give a 10-minute tazkirah during assembly in IIC (Integrated Islamic College), as a school prefect. I was so nervous that the boys in the front row could see both of hands shaking so badly!

and I still remember giving my second public speech somewhere in March 2007, talking about Palestine, to around 50 of fellow engineering friends during Halaqah (IIUM compulsory course with 0.5 credit!). I was very nervous but I didn't do so bad because I had slides to assist me. And that I can say that I was quite well prepared..

and today, I only had 5 audience! it was a training, and i still didn't perform very well.. (hrm, but not VERY bad for a third-timer, they say)... -__-"

I would say that all these years I've been trained to speak in front of people with confidence- from being a school prefect when I was 10-16, TaeKwon-Do instructor 14-16, co-/naqibah for usrah 16-now, the Adni Alumni Vice-President 16-19, etc etc... but I personally think that those situations are completely different with the time you when have to stand in front, control your movements to the very detail, and only have a piece of paper to assist you in your speech!
which brings to my mind --> learning horseback riding is more complex but much more exciting!

I never liked public speaking. My Mom had always wanted to send me to professional public speaking courses but I resisted with so many excuses!
But on 20th July 2007, with strong influence from my beloved brothers & sisters fi sabiilillah, I convinced myself that despite how much I hate public speaking, it is actually not just good for me, but will also benefit people nsyaAllah.
but somehow I still don't like the idea of standing in front of a big crowd... not because of the nervousness but because of the attention I will get... hmm... so, I will train myself to pick up oratory skills, and see if my heart will get along well... Hahaha...

of course, prayers is the best 'tool'...

as Allah stressed in Surah al-Baqarah:

" Fighting is prescribed for you, and you dislike it.
But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you,
and that you love a thing which is bad for you.
But Allah Knows Best, and you know not."

I really hope and pray that whatever oratory skills I shall learn & pick up in the future will not only be for the sake of the theory & the skills, but for the betterment of the ummah as a whole...

pray for me ya everyone ^__^
